Graduation exercises were held at Amelia Academy on Thursday, May 27. Patti B. Carey, Director of Student Engagement and Special Initiatives and a faculty member at Longwood University, was the guest speaker.

The valedictorian of the Class of 2021, Elijah John Edens, was presented a medallion and a certificate before delivering his address.

Salutatorian of the Class of 2021, Gregory William Harris, Jr., was presented a medallion and a certificate before delivering his address.

Receiving the President’s Award for Academic Excellence were Kellie Ann Banks and Elijah John Edens. 

Receiving the President’s Award for Academic Achievement were Haylee Louise Huddleston and Alex Laine Bennett Webb. 

Recipients of the Sportsmanship Award for showing fine sportsmanship in high

school life by willingness to participate, character, and cheerfulness in the face of

adversities were Kellie Ann Banks and Gregory William Harris, Jr.

The American Legion Patriotism Award is presented to a senior or seniors who

exhibit the principles of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.

The recipients were Kellie Ann Banks and Gregory William Harris, Jr.

The Foundation Award is presented each year by the Amelia Educational Foundation and the Amelia Academy Professional Education Association to a senior or seniors who have demonstrated outstanding study habits, personal self-reliance, honesty and dependability. The Foundation Award was presented to Kellie Ann Banks and Gregory William Harris, Jr.

The Herff Jones Award, the highest award presented at graduation to a senior who exhibits the qualities of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and sportsmanship, was presented to Elijah John Edens.

The Linda E. Duncan Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of Linda E. Duncan, the Academy’s beloved guidance counselor who passed away in 2015, was presented to Kellie Ann Banks and Elijah John Edens.

The Virginia Lee Courter Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of Mrs. Courter who taught at the Academy for 27 years,  was presented to Gregory William Harris, Jr.

The Delbert D. Lynn Scholarship, given in memory of Mr. Lynn’s service and devotion to the Academy,  was presented to Kellie Ann Banks.

Elijah John Edens and Gregory William Harris, Jr., were presented with the American Legion Post 87 Auxiliary scholarships.

The American Legion Post 87 scholarship was presented to Gregory William Harris, Jr.

Kellie Ann Banks received the VFW Post 8759 Scholarship and the Amelia Masonic Lodge #101 scholarship.

Gregory William Harris, Jr.,was recognized as the recipient of the Russell Grove Scholarship.

The Johnny F. Black Scholarship was presented to Kellie Ann Banks.

Elijah John Edens and Kellie Ann Banks were recognized as the recipients of the Amelia County Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee Scholarships.

The seniors were then presented their diplomas by Mr. Kelly Anderson, President of the Board of Directors of Amelia Educational Foundation, assisted by Mr. Rodney Taylor, Head of School, and Mrs. Jennifer Faeth, senior sponsor.
