Board Report
February 2022
The Amelia Educational Foundation met on February 24, 2022, for their regularly scheduled monthly Board
Meeting.

Head of School Report
The Board heard an update from Rodney Taylor, Head of the School.

Enrollment for 2022-2023 School Year
Enrollment for the 2022-2023 School Year will start March 7th! Over the past year we have welcomed many
new families to the patriot nation and look forward to continuing to grow our student body. Once enrollment
starts, please share your experiences at the school with others and encourage more students to apply.

Amelia Academy Annual Fund
As do all independent schools, Amelia Academy operates without funding from city, state, or Federal tax
revenues. Instead, Amelia Academy relies on tuition income and broad voluntary financial support. Annual
giving has enabled us to build on a tradition of scholarship, service, stewardship, and leadership. Because these
traditions are not self-perpetuating, we rely on you, the parents of today’s students, to support them. Tuition
alone does not cover the cost of educating a student. At most independent schools, tuition covers between 75
and 85 percent of the cost. The remaining percentage is covered with philanthropic support generated by
trustees, parents, grandparents, and faculty/staff. Amelia Academy’s Annual Fund provides annual budget
support to the entire school. Our goal is for 100 percent participation from trustees, parents, and faculty/staff.
All gifts to Amelia Academy’s Annual Fund are needed and appreciated. No gift is too small.
Amelia Educational Foundation operates as a non-profit 501(c)(3), approved by the Internal Revenue Service.
All donations to Amelia Academy are tax deductible. To discuss donations please contact Sherry Reynolds,
Business Manager at 804-561-2270.

Marketing and Communications Update
Amelia Academy is excited to share our updated school logo. Board members worked this year to update the
look of the AA logo. You will start to see the new logo on school communications, the AA website and social
channels. Fundraising efforts will help the school to update our physical assets such as signs and other high
impact items.

Community Engagement
Students from the Senior Class took an opportunity to brighten the day of our seniors at the Amelia
Nursing home on Valentines Day. Thanks to a generous donation from a patron the students were
able to give Valentine’s Day Carnations to the seniors in the home.
During Community Helpers Week in the Lower School, students heard from Lt. Col. Christopher
Schilling. He told the students about his career and read a story to the first grade. If you are
interested in reading to a class or sharing about your career, please contact Mr. Taylor.
2022-2023 School Year Calendar
The 2022-2023 school year calendar was approved by the Board. The first day of school will be on
Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

center provides a safe and affordable option for families for their childcare needs. They are currently
hiring for an early childhood teacher. The position is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching
team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the
classroom. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to
meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. If
you are interested – please contact AmeriKIDS.
