On Thursday, March 2, Mrs. Carol Smith brought her dog Sophia to the Amelia Academy library in honor of National Reading Month. Sophia is a R.E.A.D. dog. R.E.A.D. Stands for Reading Education Assistance Dog. Mrs. Smith goes to schools and reads to students and Sophia does tricks.  Sophia is a therapy dog that was trained at a facility in Richmond as part of the L.O.V.E. Therapy Program. Sophia and Mrs. Smith are pictured with Amelia Academy Librarian Mrs. Karen Berry. Mrs. Smith and Sophia read a story to Amelia Academy elementary students.
