June Board of Directors Report

BOARD REPORT
June 2023

The Amelia Educational Foundation met on June 26, 2023, for their regularly scheduled monthly Board Meeting.

Head of School Report
The Board heard an update from Rodney Taylor, Head of the School.

New Gym Bleachers
Join the Amelia Academy Community to help upgrade our gym with new bleachers! We are asking for YOUR support to
make a lifetime impact by purchasing a seat in the gym. The new bleachers will be secure, plastic seats that will allow
the school to house up to 500 people.

Everyone in the Patriot Community is encouraged to participate in this capital improvement. Seats are being sold to
cover the cost of the new bleachers. Our community can honor loved ones, students, alumni, family and friends
by having a plate placed on a seat to recognize that person.

It costs only $250.00 a seat. We hope you will join us in this endeavor and begin sharing this opportunity with your
friends and family. Together, we can make this happen with little cost to the school. Our students and the Amelia
community will benefit, especially as our facility is used by so many for events, both joyous and somber.

We all look forward to providing a safe and welcoming environment to all who enter our school. To make a gift and
honor someone with a named bleacher, please complete this form and make a payment through the Academy’s secure
payment portal or print the form and mail with a check (payable to Amelia Academy) — P. O. Box 106, Amelia
Courthouse, Virginia 23002

Amelia Academy Students attend TAG Camp
Amelia Academy has a great cohort of students participating in the Longwood Talented and Gifted (TAG) Summer
Program. TAG Students experience the energy and excitement of exploring new topics and interacting with other kids
who love learning. Mrs. Bollinger has been transporting the Academy Students daily to Longwood for the camp. TAG is
a two-week program, running in two non-consecutive weeks, June 26-30 and July 10-14, 2023, for area students
entering grades 4th -8th in Fall 2023. More information can be found here:

Boys State and Girls State
Amelia Academy is proud to have two students, Kyle Anderson and Elizabeth Arbitelle, represent the school at Boys
State and Girls State this summer. Virginia Boys State and Girls State is hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary, a
community service organization. The program provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of
three areas of government. Participants cultivate leadership skills and develop pride in American citizenship. Boys State
and Girls State are among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students.
Each participant becomes a part of the operation of his or her local, county and state government.

Recruitment Award
We are in the process of open enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year. Our families are the best recruitment tool that
we have – please reach out to prospective families and introduce them to the Academy. You have an opportunity for a
$1,000 reward to apply towards your tuition by recruiting new students during open enrollment. Your role is to
introduce new students to the office staff. If the family enrolls for the new school year, then $1,000 will be credited to
your account. The student(s) must remain enrolled for the full school year to receive the credit.
