The Amelia Academy Commencement Ceremony was held on Thursday, May 23. Mr. James D. Grizzard, Headmaster of  Amelia Academy from 2003 to 2012, was the guest speaker. Rev. Martin Cates, pastor of River Run Presbyterian Church of Amelia delivered the Invocation and Benediction.

The valedictorian of the Class of 2024, Amanda Lee Carwile, was presented a medallion and a certificate before delivering her address.

Salutatorian of the Class of 2024, Kyle Ephraim Anderson, was presented a medallion and a certificate before delivering his address.

Receiving the President’s Award for Academic Excellence were Kyle Ephraim Anderson and Amanda Lee Carwile. 

Recipients of the Sportsmanship Award for showing fine sportsmanship in high

school life by willingness to participate, character, and cheerfulness in the face of

adversities were Kyle Ephraim Anderson and Gracie Ann Morris.

Mikayla Weaver Anderson received the President’s Award for Academic Achievement.

Kyle Ephraim Anderson received the DAR Good Citizens Award, presented to a senior who exhibits the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Kyle was also the recipient of the William Taylor DAR Chapter Good Citizens scholarship, based on his essay submission.

The American Legion Patriotism Award is presented to a senior or seniors who

exhibit the principles of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.

The recipients were Kyle Ephraim Anderson and Amanda Lee Carwile.

The Foundation Award is presented each year by the Amelia Educational Foundation and the Amelia Academy Professional Education Association to a senior or seniors who have demonstrated outstanding study habits, personal self-reliance, honesty and dependability. The Foundation Award was presented to Kyle Ephraim Anderson and Gracie Ann Morris.

The Herff Jones Award, the highest award presented at graduation to a senior who exhibits the qualities of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and sportsmanship, was presented to Amanda Lee Carwile.

The Linda E. Duncan Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of Linda E. Duncan, the Academy’s beloved guidance counselor who passed away in 2015, was presented to Amanda Lee Carwile.

The Virginia Lee Courter Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of Mrs. Courter who taught at the Academy for 27 years, was presented to Kyle Ephraim Anderson.

Three VFW Post 8759 Scholarships were awarded to Kyle Ephraim Anderson, Amanda Lee Carwile, and Gracie Ann Morris.

The Delbert D. Lynn Scholarship, given in memory of Mr. Lynn’s service and devotion to the Academy, was presented to Gracie Ann Morris.

The American Legion Post 87 scholarship was presented to Amanda Lee Carwile.

Kyle Ephraim Anderson and Amanda Lee Carwile were presented with American Legion Post 87 Auxiliary scholarships.

The High Bridge Camp #1581 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Scholarship was presented to Kyle Ephraim Anderson.

The Johnny F. Black Scholarship was presented to Amanda Lee Carwile. 

The seniors were then presented their diplomas by Mr. Kelly Anderson, President of the Board of Directors of Amelia Educational Foundation, assisted by Mr. Rodney Taylor, Head of School, and Mrs. Jennifer Faeth, senior sponsor.
